Before seeing the the film Helvetica, I had actually no idea what I was in for. I’d imagined it to be a documentary charting the beginnings of the typeface we all hate to love, and how it’s been used in design in the years since. I braced myself for a feature-length lecture and brought two matchsticks for my eyes and a cushion just incase. Turns out I was only half right – and what an engaging, humorous film it turned out to be.
